Patek Philippe Museum — ‘Nautilus, 50 Years’ Exhibition
Patek Philippe Museum
Geneva
A watchmaking icon celebrated in an exceptional setting: to mark the 50th anniversary of the Nautilus, a bespoke exhibition design interacts with one of the world’s most prestigious watch collections.
Located in the Plainpalais district, the Patek Philippe Museum houses some 2,500 watches, automata, precious objects and miniature portraits on enamel, tracing five centuries of watchmaking art in Geneva, Switzerland and Europe. Born out of Philippe Stern’s passion, this iconic cultural venue in Geneva also offers a comprehensive overview of the manufacture’s creations since 1839.
To mark the 50th anniversary of the Nautilus, the museum is presenting a temporary exhibition tracing half a century of history of one of its flagship models. Designed by Gérald Genta in 1976, the Nautilus – a sports watch in steel with a design inspired by a porthole and an integrated bracelet – has established itself as one of the most distinctive icons of contemporary watchmaking.
Drawing on the manufacture’s historical archives, the exhibition traces the evolution of the collection through its various periods — from the original reference 3700 to versions in precious metals and with complications, right through to the 50th-anniversary limited edition comprising four exclusive models. Launched during the open-house weekend on 6 and 7 June 2026, it will run until early 2027.
It was within this framework that Museum Manufactory and its workshop, Lézard Graphique, were commissioned – in collaboration with and under the direction of the agency Events Concept, which produced and managed the project – to design the exhibition layout and create the display elements.
